The 521 Bus at Halesworth Railway Staion

To get to Southwold by train from London go from London Liverpool Street where you need the East Suffolk Line. You may need to change at Ipswich, depending on which train you catch. Some trains are now straight through to Suffolk.

For Southwold you have a choice of either the One station at Darsham or the One station at Halesworth. Travelling from the London/Ipswich direction you reach Darsham first. This station though is right by the A12 road with just a few houses and businesses close by. Darsham village is a distance away. Halesworth station (see photo) is the next station after Darsham and is on the edge of this small market town. Go to www.halesworth.net to know more. The rail service is operated by National Express.

Both stations are about ten miles from Southwold. If you are being collected by car most people in Southwold or Walberswick would use Darsham station.

Both Darsham and Halesworth link to Southwold by the bus service 521 operated by Anglian Coaches (timetables available on their website). This service runs between Aldeburgh and Southwold calling at both Darham and Halesworth train stations and will set down in Southwold High Street and often at the Harbour too. If boarding the bus at Halesworth remember to go to the bus stop on the 'uphill' side of the station , not the car park side. There are appropriate signs up.
